RESORT LOOKS: OYOxDESIGN
Bright sunshine, cool evenings, far away retreats, and new adventures. At Freedom Tree, we encapsulate these motifs into our ‘Resort Living’ looks, re-interpreted year after year. The Resort Lifestyle serves to transport us to happier times, with a celebration of vivid color, natural materials and woods that thrive in the moisture, and soft breathable textiles that cool the skin and soften the light.
Freedom Tree recently collaborated with Oyo X Design to create ‘Resort Chic’ looks for a series of vacation apartments in South Goa. Nestled in the verdant Palolem Hills Estate, the studios, and one-bedroom apartments were stunningly appointed with views of the surrounding lowlands, within reach of the sea.
We set out to create a series of looks for the spaces: Graphic Glamour, Narrative Faces, Living Botanical. Each inspired by a fresh new take on Resort Living, with a unique color palette, layout and design direction for textiles, furniture, and décor.
We began our work with a mood-board that each look could feel like, with inspiration from our catalog as well as other references that completed the vibe.
With a bold yet soothing design language established, we laid out the possibilities of each apartment in detail, to coordinate perfectly with the typical lifestyle of families, couples, and friends expected to stay.
With the space laid out, we worked to customize and source entirely new products, materials, and ranges for this project. The most special part of the process was incorporating our textile prints in fresh new ways with sheer curtains, cushions, and upholstery coverings to match the look.
The finishing touch was to incorporate a flourish of color on the furniture and walls. In the mint rooms, we guided on a soothing Botanical Green to complement the textiles and finished the living room furniture with accents of mint.
We incorporated smarter urban looks into the Studio rooms, where we might expect a young couple or bachelor to stay. Inspired by our Graphic print “Faces” we created a graphic look on the textiles, complemented with micro-prints on the sheer curtains. Color coordinating rope accent chairs, and handsomely natural live edge furniture complete the upscale designer resort look.
We’ve always loved to play with color and space, print and material production. We love tying together a look across fabrics, décor, furniture, and even the walls! Not fussy, functional. Informal and relaxed.
