Frequently Asked Questions about Plates & Platters

What is the difference between a dinner plate and a serving platter?

A dinner plate is a single-serve piece — typically 26–28cm in diameter — for one person's main course. A serving platter is larger and designed to carry food to the table: a whole roast, a pile of roti, a shared salad. Both are available in coordinating patterns across all Freedom Tree collections.

Are your serving platters the right size for a full meal?

Our serving platters range from medium (for a side dish or appetiser spread) to large (for a main course or centrepiece display). Dimensions are listed on each product page. For large gatherings, a combination of two or three platters in different sizes works well.

Can I use dinner plates in the microwave?

Yes. All our ceramic dinner plates and platters are microwave-safe, oven-safe, and dishwasher-safe.

Do you offer plates in sets of more than six?

Yes. Individual plates can be purchased in any quantity, so you can build sets of eight, ten or more. For large orders, contact our team for assistance with availability and lead times.

How do I coordinate plates and platters across different patterns?

The most effective approach is to choose one pattern as your anchor — typically for dinner plates — and layer in complementary pieces from the same collection. Our collections share a colour sensibility that makes cross-pattern mixing natural. The product pages include styling suggestions and coordinating piece recommendations.
