Cotton quilts are among the most practical pieces in Indian bedding — light enough for warmer months, layerable for cooler nights, and gentle against skin year-round. Freedom Tree's quilts are filled with a light and insulating poly wadding that is also machine washable with the whole piece.

Duvet Covers

Duvet covers are also available in our signature prints. Printed on light and breathable cotton, you can insert a filler of your choice. Easy to maintain, these removable duvet covers are also machine washable. Pair with a contrasting Pillow Covers and a coordinating bedcover for a considered bed.

Layering Quilts with Other Bedding

A quilt works well as a top layer over a fitted sheet, or combined with a Dohars for lighter, breathable warmth in humid months.

Care

Machine wash cold on gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low or hang flat to dry. Do not dry clean. Iron on low heat.

What is the difference between a quilt and a duvet?

A quilt is a structured textile with three layers — a decorative top, a wadding or batting middle, and a backing — stitched together in a pattern. A duvet is a bag filled with loose down or synthetic fill. Quilts are flatter and more structured; duvets are loftier and warmer. Freedom Tree quilts are designed as lightweight warm-weather bed covers.

Are Freedom Tree quilts suitable for Indian summers?

Yes. Our quilts use a lightweight cotton fill appropriate for warm Indian nights — enough warmth for air-conditioned rooms without being oppressively heavy in warmer conditions. For very cold nights, layer a quilt over a blanket or under a duvet.

How do I care for a cotton quilt?

Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent and avoid fabric softener. Tumble dry on low heat or line dry in shade — direct sunlight can fade printed fabrics over time. Shake the quilt to redistribute the fill after washing.

Can I use a Freedom Tree quilt as a decorative throw?

Yes. A folded quilt at the foot of the bed or draped over a sofa is one of the most effective ways to add colour and texture to a room. Our quilts are designed to be as decorative as they are functional.

What size quilt do I need for a double bed?

For a double bed (135x190cm), a quilt of approximately 200x230cm gives good coverage with a modest drop on the sides. For a more generous look, choose 220x240cm. Sizes are listed on each product page.
