What is the difference between window curtains and door curtains?

Window curtains are proportioned for standard window heights — typically 150–210cm drop. Door curtains (or portières) are longer, designed to cover full-height doorways and French doors. Freedom Tree offers both — check the product page for the dimensions of each style.

How do I choose the right curtain colour for a room?

Curtains cover a large area of wall and significantly affect a room's colour temperature. Warm tones (terracotta, ochre, burnt orange) make a room feel cosier; cool tones (blue, green, grey) make it feel calmer and larger. A curtain in a colour drawn from the room's existing palette creates cohesion; a contrasting colour creates a feature.

Should curtains touch the floor?

Floor-length curtains that just touch the floor are the most classic and versatile choice — they look deliberate and proportioned. A slight puddle (5–10cm extra fabric on the floor) is a more formal, opulent look. Curtains that stop short of the floor look unfinished unless the window is above a radiator or the intention is clearly functional.

Are patterned curtains harder to style than plain ones?

Patterned curtains require slightly more care in coordinating with other elements in the room, but the effect is significantly more characterful. Keep the rest of the soft furnishings relatively simple when hanging bold patterned curtains, allowing them to do the work.
