Frequently Asked Questions about Table Linen

What table linen do I need to set a complete table?

A complete table setting typically includes a table cover or runner, individual placemats or mats for each setting, and cloth napkins. A table cover protects the full surface; a runner adds colour down the centre without covering the whole table. Placemats define each place setting and coordinate with the napkins.

Are Freedom Tree table covers machine-washable?

Yes. Many of our table covers, runners and placemats are machine-washable. We recommend removing food stains promptly and washing inside out to preserve the print. Do not tumble dry — lay flat or line dry to maintain the fabric's shape. Some of our foil-printed, tassled, and embroidered table linens may require a dry clean or handwash. Check the product page for specific instructions.

What fabric are the table linens made from?

Our table linens are made from quality cotton and cotton-blend fabrics. Cotton is the most practical choice for table linen — it is absorbent, durable and improves with washing. Each product page specifies the fabric composition.

Do your table linens coordinate with your ceramics?

Yes — coordination between table linens and ceramics is central to how Freedom Tree collections are designed. Each collection offers matching or complementary table covers, runners, placemats and napkins that work alongside the ceramic dinner sets in the same pattern family.

Can napkins be used as cocktail napkins or only at the dinner table?

Our cloth napkins work at every scale — as full dinner napkins folded at a place setting, as cocktail napkins for drinks and appetisers, or as serving cloths at a buffet. We do offer smaller cocktail specific napkins that are more managable in a bar setting if required. Both are a versatile, reusable alternative to paper napkins.
