SACRED GEOMETRY
As we enter a new Festive period, `we seek out connection to our past, present, and those around us. With our Fall collection Mansara, we pay homage to the sacred geometries of our universe: a mathematically, cosmically, and architecturally inspired design collection for the home. Abstracted and geometric designs that celebrate human culture’s fascination with the natural and the cosmic to bring a meaning to the here and now.
As Mansara translated from ancient Sanskrit means "essence of measurement.” It is an ancient Sanskrit treatise on Indian architecture and design. Thus, the spirit of our collection is rooted in the timeless essentials of measure and proportion that suffuse our universe. These sacred truths derive from an underlying cosmic and mathematical rhythm, and the most simple and familiar shapes – the dot, the circle, the square and triangle – become abstractions that intersect and build onto each other.
We connect to these larger ideas in our daily rituals and practices, whether it be tracing a Kolam, welcoming a new day, sanctifying the threshold of our home, or gathering our nearest and dearest for festive celebrations. FLUID GEOMETRY
Our Hero Print Mansara is a fluid abstraction of an ancient order. A modern interpretation that respects the rules and grids, but bends the lines. The huge forms and multiple layering of colour create the utmost interest. The juxtaposition of computer-generated fractals and flowing brushstrokes create a dramatic print, available as upholstery, curtain fabric, or even as a quilt in our latest collection.

Uniquely at Freedom Tree, we love to explore forms on multiple surfaces and the motif of fluid abstraction travels to furniture, lighting, and decoration in this collection. The curving lines rendered on our handcrafted furniture, show pleasurable volumes which are sensual yet lean. Print and pattern move in symmetrical waves – almost like sound waves – presented as oriental ogees. The objects stand sentinel, like pillars and columns, man made things, trying to reach the heavens.

PRINT & COLOR
As an original print and color design studio, you can bet that we have some incredible color stories in store for you! The collection heaves with a bright yet rich palette of festive mints, yellows, and pinks. Fluid geometries and folkloric rhythms underlie the print stories, allowing you to mix match to your heart’s content your favorite colors and styles to make it your own.
While cosmic and fluid geometric abstractions take center stage in our print stories (Mansara, Mire Ikkat), we also complement with mathematical micro prints for structure and rhythmic order (Agama and Gyamati). Abstracted florals and playful cultural narratives add whimsy and an organic interlude to the print story (Koda Grama and Fragrant Rose).
One of our favorite aspects of this collection is two distinct color stories you can create in your spaces – a happy yellow bright story – with contrasting pops of minty blue – and a warm and festive story where red and pinks take center stage. We can’t wait to see how our Tribe will mix and match this collection to create bright festive corners in their home.

Light & gradation
As the festival of lights approaches, we pay an ode to the play of light and shadow, and the interplay of mathematically inspired geometries and gradations they produce. The collection is designed for stunning impact during the day and as golden hour approaches at dusk. Light up with diyas, string lights, and warm yellow lighting as the evening hour unfolds and the revelry begins.
Our stunning Mansara inspired handmade pendant lights follow the form of fractal geometry and other-wordly blooms. The gridlike structure of our pendants and decoration cast evocative shadows that meander and mark the progress of our solar day. Smart and shapely ombres and stripers on cushions and rugs conjure imagery of the horizon during sunset, or the highest reaches of the atmosphere as we ascend to converse with the cosmic.
More practically these predictable structures and shadows bring an order and rhythm to the home, evoking a sense of calm and comfortable modernity to any space.

Handsome handcarved and handpainted furniture is a centerpiece of the collection. Rendered in a fusion of primitive and retro fluid styling, we explore the central motifs of Mansara on a variety of surfaces. Like a cosmic harmony the pieces gel perfectly with the print stories of the collection, showcasing the tremendous skill and versatility of our local materials and handicraft traditions. A modern expression of the traditional, a playful exploration of the essential, bring home these pieces that explore a fluid and folksy geometry in the home.
